This hybrid workshop/webinar format we’ve been working on seems to be a hit. Last week, over 100 people joined us from around the world for a special workshop on Lightroom 2 featuring Steve Laskevitch of Seattle’s Luminous Works Training Center. The week before that, Jason Hoppe delved into tricks and techniques for retouching skin.

We’ve been recording these workshops as we go — and these two particular workshops were strong enough that we’d like to make them available for people who missed out the first time. You can now purchase a downloadable copy of these webinars to play on your computer, Apple TV, or even iPod/iPhone:

January 14 — Retouching Skin in Photoshop CS4.

January 21 – Introduction to Lightroom 2.

The recorded workshops cost $49 each. As a tips reader, you get $10 off. Enter the discount code tipsreader when you sign up.

PS. Stay tuned. We’ve been working on this hybrid workshop/webinar format for a while now. We’ve got an unprecedented twist up our sleeve for February!

I was very impressed with the content and quality of the Lightroom 2 webinar. It covered the gamut from personalizing the interface to getting a handle on the many (previously confusing) modules. The presentation itself was much clearer and had a larger screen view than a couple of the well-known online training companies I’ve used in the past. The moderator and presenter worked well together, taking requests from the live and online class but keeping the training moving along. Thanks for a great seminar. I’ll definitely attend more!

I logged in to the January 21 Intro. to Lightroom 2 workshop via the web, from my workplace desk, and found the experience to be pretty nifty. This is great actually: you can follow along closely when they’re right on top of something particularly relevant to your interests; or turn around and grab some coffee or go to your email or anything else when the topic diverges from the center of your own universe. Also, important calls and walk-ups aren’t missed. This is not a bad way to go when you can’t be there in person (for all the networkie-ness).

I attended the Lightroom 2 webinar last week and absolutely loved it. It was my first webinar, and I found it so easy to interact and did not feel like I was missing out by not being there in person. I live in Seattle, where the webinar took place, yet still appreciated that I could attend from my home office which made my day just that much more efficient. Communicating back and forth was flawless via the chat window. The content of the class was great as well. I had just wanted to see what was new with LR2, but found the overall refresher useful as well. What a fun way to learn.

I found last week’s webinar on Lightroom 2 extremely informative. I’ve had experience with LR1.xx and was happy to learn of the new features without having to spend a lot of time reading through update pdf’s. Thanks for keeping it short, sweet and to the point.

  5. Karen Says:

The webinar was great. Steve is a great teacher–I have taken courses from him and his wife, Carla, in the past. I really appreciated the time spent in the “Develop” module. I would definitely be interested in more.

  6. Steve Koster Says:

The Lightroom 2 webinar gave a thorough, well-planned overview of the program, with particulars on using the modules that was easy to follow and sprinkled with tips. Real-world requests from both live and online participants added even more specific details and insights not gained from a manual. This is my second Creativeworks webinar, and is definitely the wave of the future in online training.

  7. Ken Vensel Says:

Craig, The seminar worked flawlessly and was very well presented by Steve and yourself. I am considering buying Lightroom in the near future and it gave me some nice insight to what it can do. Thanks again to Creative Techs

  8. Curt Hakl Says:

    Chaps,
Your webinar the other morning (started 3:00 am Australian time) was really great. First time I have been exposed to this type of medium on the Net. The “live” interaction with the Web attendees as well as the studio folks added the personal touch & was well done. The chat screen format eliminates perhaps the frivolous or off topic comments that creep in on voice / Voip type interface.
The instructor was great in his patter as well as info & the moderator kept things running smoothly & on topic. A hit & well worth getting out of bed for………………..

Very nice session. Highly recommended. And the trick of making clips of the session available for viewing/download separately is brilliant.

    Keep up the great work!

  10. Bev Sparks Says:

I attended the Lightroom 2 workshop and was pleasantly surprised that the webinar was going on at the same time. It allowed many more people to be involved and ask really good questions. I have always been impressed with Creative Techs and how imaginative, professional, and thoughtful they are. Thanks for presenting these workshops. I would love to come to more!

  11. Embry Rucker Says:

Guys, thanks so much! that was a great web-i-gnar & super smooth interface.
i signed my studio manager up for the class as well & we were pretty stunned – it was perfect, thanks – now, back to the glowing screens.

  12. Valerie Says:

Can I say I really enjoyed the webinar. This was the first time I had participated in a course over the net. It was very imformative – in fact “jam packed”. I felt as if I was in Seattle, although in reality I was in my own home in Greece. Questions were answered with sensitivity and extremely well organised. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
