I landed here searching on the phrase 'font menu too long'. I agree entirely with everything said but I don't see any advice on solving the problem. Any suggestions??

Thanks :-)

Can you provide tips for font management in general, and for the PC, not the Mac? How do you file thousands of fonts? How do you organize them so you can find handwriting, comic or children's fonts easily when they come from so many companies? How do you keep the licenses straight? Thanks so much.

Is there a way to shorten the menu by categories - like "scripts" - then a fly-out?

I wasn't able to attend the January workshop either :(

do you have any benchmarks showing how much faster the computer gets when you disable fonts? what kinds of tasks get faster? obviously there can be productivity increases with a simplified font menu, but it sounds like you're saying that each font open consumes cpu cycles that an application could be using.
