Digital Photography Wk 10 – Art Wolfe Interview

This event took place 4 months, 15 days, 7 hours, 8 minutes ago

Audio Note: There is a loud audio echo in the first minute or so of this video. Rich got that fixed pretty quickly — but it is a nice bit between John and Art, so we decided to leave it in. There is also an audio drop of about 20 seconds later in the program. Other than that, we’re pretty happy with the quality for this first run at our new interview format. We have got the source videos to edit together a cleaner version in the future.

John Greengo sits down with his good friend and fellow photographer Art Wolfe (Travels to the Edge with Art Wolfe) to discuss photography and traveling.

The full interview is available for download in the CreativeTechs Live podcast: iTunes or RSS.

Digital Photography Wk 4 – Exposure

We’ll be posting an exceprt from this week’s class on Monday, September 30.

Each week I’m more amazed at what John’s extended Digital Photography course is growing into. Each week John packs in more information than I thought was possible. And he does it with beautifully clear examples and illustrations. How does this course compare to other photography courses you’ve seen?

Digital Photography Wk 3 – Lenses

Update: We’ve just posted a free 20 minute video from with excerpts from three different parts of this week’s class. These excerpts include some of the great illustrations and examples from John’s full 2-hour class. This video will not expire.

Wow. We typically schedule our online classes for roughly an hour of instruction, and up to an hour of Q&A. Today John blew us away with an amazing 2-hour presentation packed with information about camera lenses. I think he was suprised by how much there was to cover too. His presentation included at least a dozen of his signature illustrations and animations that make a complex technical subject easy to understand.

We’re not going to be able to post John’s entire class for free here. We’re working first on getting the complete 2.5 hours of class and Q&A up for everyone who has purchased the full course downloads. That should be up by sometime tomorrow (Thursday Sep 17th).

Based on a poll from today’s live webinar audience, we’re most likely going to be posting John’s extended discussion on Apertures & Depth of Field as our free video from this week’s class. That free video should be up by Friday at the latest.

While we’re getting all that ready, here is a general outline of today’s talk.

Outline of Digital Photography Week 3: Lenses

  1. Lense Basics
  2. Focal Length
  3. Lens Speed
  4. Angle of View
  5. Apertures & Depth of Field
  6. Focusing systems
  7. Bonus: John’s Oddball Lenses

Sneak Peak: John Greengo’s Exposure 24!

If you were with us last week before Jason Hoppe’s Thursday Photoshop class, you may remember getting a sneak peak at something John has planned for the weekend of September 26th. It’s a worldwide 24-hour photographic outing.

John will be taking a small group of Photographers around Seattle, while he invites everyone worldwide to join him in the same exercise where ever you live. John will kick the experience off with a Saturday morning breifing, and we’ll all come back together 24 hours later to look at the photos from Seattle and around the world.
