I'm sorry that I didn't have enough time to attend more of her classes. I tend to use available light for the most part in my photography but I'd like to have the option of learning alternative lighting modes.

Rosanne Olson is a gifted photographer and an excellent teacher who can translate the most complex concepts into very accessible ideas.

I look forward to seeing more of her work and learning from her.

Thank you!

Boy, if you had submitted this message to your ol' school chum and pal Andy B, who's been to Iceland twice with one of his bands, I coulda hooked ya up! How was the trip to Iceland? Isn't it an incredible place?

Hope all's well out there. It's been ages since we've been in contact. Take care and be in touch sometime.

As we listen to this interview with Winifred Whitfield, she seems almost unaware that she is revealing much of her own heart to us. Just as she uses brush strokes to refine her portraits, she refines the time she spends with her subjects. As step by step, she explains the secrets to her capture and painting of a subject, we hear in her voice and see in her eyes, Winifred's own heartfelt passion for people. Far beyond simply showing us how she refines photography with electronic brush strokes, Winifred shows us how she uses time to brush away the surface fears and anxienties of her client. In portrait after portrait, we see how this artist paints her own strong, warm presence and genuine care into a background of trust for her subject. She empowers her clients to expose the real beauty they usually internalize. Jon Greengo is to be complimented for his quiet, beautifully understated interview style and engaging personal warmth. In showcasing Winifred, he has revealed the heart of an artist who really does "see the soul."

Roseanne

I thought the course was teriffic. I'm not into digital yet because I just don't shoot like I used too because of health reasons. My typing and writting skills have lapsed also. I used to shoot weddings part time. I still use Vivitar 283s with the variable ranges. You might explain more on how to use the automatic ranges of different portable strobes for fill lighting. On leaf shuuters no problem but obviously with focl planes its a different ball game, Main light fill light etc. It was explined to me with so called "thyrister" circuitry, the strobe goes off, bounces back from the subject and shuts off the unit.
all in milisecond. This is the reason for different f-stops. F11 short duration, F8 longer light duration, F5.6 longer duration of light still etc etc. Looking foreward to future classes. Good Luck.

Sincerely

Excellent. The one thing I don't think you addressed is the APS advantage of equivalent telephoto focal length lenses being smaller and lighter, therefore much more practical to bring with you. That 400mm telephoto for the full frame is not much good if it is too heavy and big and impractical to bring with you. But the 200mm (equivalent 320mm) on the Canon APS is much smaller and lighter, will give you almost as much telephoto, and equal quality.

Excellent class Rosanne. I watched as many of the live feeds as I could and am hoping there's more to come. You brought it down to a level that's easier to understand. Hopefully there will be further explorations in such areas.

I missed this class. You used to have part of the lesson posted online to review. I can't see where to access that. Have you stopped doing that?
