No matter what you do or where you go, you can always add photography to it. Photography adds a deeper level of understanding and commitment to what you are doing. And it helps you see things that you may not have seen before — that were always right there in front of you.
In this first week of John Greengo’s 10-Week Digital Photography course, John lays out a general overview of digital photography, and explores many of the most common misconceptions about photography.
You guys rock! I look forward to next weeks lesson…I tried to do your course last time, but the time didn’t work out. This is perfect!
The results of the polls aren’t shown in the video, can you ask the instructor to make sure he/she reviews the results via audio?
Thanks!
This was the first time we’ve run polls like that. And yes, we forgot to get screen captures of the results. This week it is going to be Rich’s job to get a screen capture to incorporate into the video. We keep learning!
Thank you so much for letting us listen and watch the classes. I missed last weeks, so I appreciate you allowing us to view these classes for a week. I am looking forward to learn more.
One of my services will be to combine stills and video in a DVD format for my clients. I am looking into which camera I should get to do that, and since I am already invested in Canon, I assumed I would upgrade to the 5D Mark II…but…Panasonic’s GH-1 can change video aperture on the fly, while the Mark II cannot. And, Panasonic can do it for a whole lot less money than Canon. I’m having a hard time rationalizing staying with Canon simply because I have my expensive 70-200 mm lens! Do you have any info at all as to whether Canon is working on a response to Panasonic’s aperture/zoom on the fly functionality? Thank you…
Hey Michelle,
check the new Canon D7 I think it does what you need and it’s only $1700 bucks..
You guys are unbelievably amazing! I don’t understand why you’re being so generous, but I cannot thank you enough! I’m the one who previously mentioned having been laid off last year from meeting & event planning. My continued learning of my passion would not be possible if not for your generosity….and Twitter for bringing me to you guys! I was concerned that I could not do the PS webinar last week, which is something I REALLY need right now. Once again, you guys have come through.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
FYI…I have shared your training courses with my Chicagoland Digital Photography Meetup organizer and the group. We have over 2,200 members of amateurs and pros, the largest group in the country. People are excited about you guys!
Best,
Thanks so much for making this class available – missed the class due to work! Thanks AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you guys rock!! i miss last class because now i have meetings at 1pm ! i used to assist on my lunch time.. but arghh! because of my meetings i lost last classes. i saw it right now. Thank you very much for your effort on this. I’m looking forward tomorrow’s class! (my meeting was postponed)
Thank you so much! I had other commitments that day. I’m so happy for they opportunity to see it today!
Thank you alot for this wonderfull course!! I’m looking forward to next week’s class.
Great video. Can’t wait for the next one.
Thank you so much. Good stuff in here!
Thanks for the awesome class!! I look forward for the second class!
Thanks so much for the video availability! You have alleviated a lot of my frustration!
I was very diappointed that I couldnt make the times for this course, so this was AWESOME!!! Thank you so very much for making the class available to those of us with busy schedules. Can’t wait to learn more. Thanks again!
Thanks heaps for making this available to those of us who want to watch this and real life causes issues . …. really appreciate you doing this.
This was great, very informative and it’s only the first class. Can’t wait for the next one. Also, thank you for having these available to view after the class. I am in a different time zone and would not be able to watch otherwise.
Thanks guys. This is fantastic. I invited a bunch of people who were not able to get in and we were all disappointed. Now they have all watched and hope to get in tomorrow. You guys are the best!
How glad I am that you (Shirley) told me about John Greengo and his team with this digital photography online class that follows the live class. I am one of those who could not view the class in Seattle in the Pacific Time Zone since I am in the Eastern Time Zone. Yes I believed some of those misconceptions, too, and look forward to learning other helpful points that will inform about taking better pictures with my digital camera. Thanks, again.
Thank you for making this available for us. I didn’t make the 4am wake up last week but was relieved to find the video. Thank you very much!!!
Thanks so much! Just one question, Are you only making parts of the classes available for the week after? I noticed that the Gear Review section was missing. Thanks.
Lisa, we’re making the main class of each week available. In most cases that means you’ll get the main class without the second hour of Q&A. In cases where the class is divided into discrete sections, only one of those sections will be posted each week. (For example, the Flash course which is typically taught in 3 lesson segments will only have a single lesson segment posted each week)
Ooooo! 1st week i missed it and couldn’t watch it afterwards cuz the video’s link was wrong, it showed another video and i thought the free week for that video was over… but now, reading some comments i’ve realised it was there but the link was wrong!
Although i love the effort you’re doing with all these courses… I feel a bit sad i missed first day at digital photography.. hope it wasn’t too important.
Thanks
I just heard about you from a friend. You are already on week four, how can I make up the classes I missed if I sign up now. Will you be offering another course following this 10 week one? I wanted to check before I sign up for this one is so far into the course. Thanks for replying!

You can always catch up (and not have to worry about missing another session) by purchasing and downloading our recordings of the course.
And we certainly hope John will be up for more courses when this one finishes. He’s a great teacher!
Wow, I just saw this course (a friend posted it on Facebook). I’m impressed. This is what I was missing when I attended my first photography class… someone that actually walks you through the details. You have to understand what you’re doing before “practice” will do any good in my opinion.
Will definitely pass the word along (in fact already have)!
John is as great a thinker as he is a photographer. To experience the combo of such a thoughtful and well prepared presentation with such gorgeous aesthetics is a total treat. Thank you John for your efforts. And yes, I have learned a lot more about photography than when I started.
